South Korea's e-tax invoice threshold sits at KRW 80 million as the phase-down continues
South Korea operates one of the oldest mandatory e-invoicing regimes in the world and continues to widen it by lowering the turnover bar for sole proprietors. All corporations have been in scope since January 2011. For individual entrepreneurs the threshold fell from KRW 300 million to 200 million in July 2022, to 100 million in July 2023, and to KRW 80 million of prior-year supply from 1 July 2024, which remains the operative level. Suppliers issue XML invoices signed with a PKI certificate and report them to the National Tax Service portal within one day of issuance, or monthly in summary form. The one-day reporting window, not the format, is what most foreign-owned entities underestimate.
