Egypt halves the e-invoicing registration threshold to EGP 250,000, deadline 31 March 2026
Resolution No. 281 of 2025 cut the mandatory e-invoicing registration threshold from EGP 500,000 to EGP 250,000 of annual revenue, with every business above the new bar required to register with the Egyptian Tax Authority by 31 March 2026. From 1 January 2026 the ETA moved into the final enforcement stages of a rollout that began in 2020, and non-compliance now carries an immediate EGP 20,000 fine plus EGP 1,000 per day under a three-tier regime that can end in suspension of the ability to issue valid invoices. Invoices must be submitted as signed XML or JSON through the ETA portal or API and receive a UUID before issuance. The parallel e-receipt system for B2C continues expanding in waves.
